Growing trends for urbanization worldwide and a progressive distancing of the majority of world’s population from natural environments claim the needs to scientifically understand the importance of human contact with nature.
It is well documented that even simple natural elements in indoor environments (e.g. ornamental plants) bring a number of psychological and phisical benefits. Having more information about the topic based on empirical research, a further and important social effort will be justified to increase accessibility to green-spaces and encourage people to interact with nature, as this will be giving great benefits to mental and physical health conditions.
The Greenbrain Project aims to investigate the biological positive effects of natural environment. Our ultimate goal is to develope a practical framework to improve humans’ quality of life, with the power of nature.
